Northrop Auditorium, located on the University of Minnesota campus, was built between 1928 and 1929 as part of a major university expansion. Originally envisioned in Cass Gilbert’s 1908 campus plan, the project gained momentum after the passing of former university president Cyrus Northrop in 1922. The auditorium was later dedicated in his honor, as well as in tribute to veterans of World War I.
